Successful Roadmap Meeting
As you know, PBUS turns 30 next February. A special gathering was convened by President Linda Braswell on October 24th – 25th in San Antonio to develop recommendations for the PBUS Board of Directors on ways to improve upon our successes, learn from our errors and plan for the future
President Braswell had encouraged PBUS members, especially those not able to attend this meeting to email their suggestions to her. Linda noted in previous correspondence: “These are challenging times and challenging times demand creativity, ingenuity and a willingness to collectively think far outside the box. I know our members have the experience, the sense and abilities to do this. More and more is expected of each of us and more and more people are depending upon PBUS to make things right. I need your assistance in leading the way, in creating a roadmap for the future of this association.” Linda would like to thank everyone for the ideas and recommendations in the emails and letters she received.
PBUS members’ suggestions ranged from ways to add value to their membership, to increasing our involvement with state associations, expanding our presence on Capitol Hill, as well as a review of the dues structure and the agendas for both the Winter and Midyear Meetings. Secretary Wanda Zumas and I have been tasked with the responsibility of summarizing all the discussions and compiling the myriad of recommendations into one report that will then be presented to the Board of Directors for their consideration.
A full and complete report will also be posted on the PBUS website along with a timetable for implementation of the recommendations.
This venerable organization has served our profession well these past three decades. We believe each PBUS member will be pleased with the report and we look forward to continued collaborations with an eye to our future.
