Online Certified Bail Agent™ (CBA™) Course Registration

Welcome and congratulations on wishing to enhance your professional education!

PBUS offers six (6) CBA courses especially designed for bail agents to improve their business and our profession. Each CBA course is $50, or purchase a bundled package and save $100) and includes a syllabus on each topic and a short test (no refunds on course purchases).

The completed test should be sent to the PBUS office for review; instructions are on each completed test as to how to send the test to PBUS. Each test should receive an 80 percent correct answer score for passage.

A brief description of each course is below:

CBA 1: History and Responsibilities
This course discusses the overview, purpose and history of bail, the CBA and MCBA educational certification, member benefits, legislative action, professionalism in the bail industry and facts and fallacies of bail.

CBA 2: Professional Image
This course discusses ethics within the industry, PBUS' Code of Ethics and PBUS' bylaws.

CBA 3: Daily Business Practices
This course discusses risk and underwriting, supervision of defendants and employees and other key business practices to keep your bail business compliant

CBA 4: Reducing Losses
This course discusses mitigating your liability when hiring bail enforcement agents, recovery agents or bounty hunters to find your skips, arrest practices and authority to apprehend.

CBA 5: Legislation and the Importance of Associations
This course discusses the political process when working with various legislatures, contributions and PACs, lobbyists, communicating with legislators, the federal legislative process, working with local, state and national associations and Roberts Rules of Order for meetings.

CBA 6: National Liability Standards
This course discusses the various areas and types of liability, limiting your liability, goals and benchmarks and how to effectively maintain case files and incident reports.

Upon passing each course, a certificate of completion will be sent to each student. All CBA courses must be completed within a two (2) year period. To receive and use the CBA designation after taking and passing all six (6) CBA courses, you must be a licensed bail agent and an active member in good standing with PBUS. Upon passing all six (6) CBA courses, a plaque will be presented to each student at the next PBUS winter conference or mid-year meeting as part of each course fee.
