2026 Election Rules

IMPORTANT VOTING INFORMATION FOR THE PBUS® ELECTIONS

  1. Only voting members in good standing with membership dues paid in full by close of registration on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 will be eligible to vote in the election;
  2. Voting members must be currently licensed or approved by the authorized Governmental agencies within their respective jurisdictions to execute bail bonds for the public sector;
  3. A copy of one of the following documents must be provided to PBUS® for voting eligibility:
  • Copy of active license from the Department of Insurance from the state authorized to write bail in;
  • Copy of the bail card authorized by the county sheriff or court from the state authorized to write bail in; or
  • Copy of the authorization letter from the county sheriff or court from the state authorized to write bail in.
  1. New members who wish to vote in the election must pay for a voting membership by close of registration on Tuesday, February 24, 2026;
  2. Only individual non-voting members who wish to upgrade to a voting membership (additional $180) can do so, which must be done by close of registration on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 (original membership expiration date will not change);
  3. Agency membership include two voting members, which must be determined and declared by close of registration on Tuesday, February 24, 2026;
  4. All other voting membership types are specific to the individual and no voting substitution will be allowed;
  5. Voting members must be present to vote; no proxy votes allowed;
  6. Members do not have to be registered for the conference to attend the membership meetings on Tuesday or the reconvened membership meeting on Wednesday to vote in the elections; security will let non-registered members into the membership meetings when they begin;
  7. At the elections, voting members must wear and show their conference badge if registered; non-registered conference members must show a valid picture ID; each voting member will sign next to their name on a membership roster that they are a voting member in good standing;
  8. Each voting member will receive a wristband in conjunction with their ballots signifying that they are eligible to vote and must sign their name on a master voting list indicating they have received their voting ballots; and
  9. Additional ballots will not be supplied to a voting member once this process is complete.
